I'm watching the Phantom of the Opera finally and all I can say is "...teh fuck?" Maybe if it wasn't such a musical, I've always found musicals corny. When she's walking through the graveyard singing I'm going, "Who really sings to themselves for no reason?" Maybe I just think too much o.o

I'd choose Raoul. I don't know what she's doing yet, but that Phantom guy is freaking me out. Sure, I'd have sympathy for him, but blah. The adoptive mother type woman should just marry him. They're closer to the same age anyway, and ... yeah.

Go Christine for going with Raoul -headdesk- Smart chica.

And the Phantom smashes his mirrors. Um. Kay. Now I'm just trying to figure out who this old guy in the wheelchair is. Not the Phantom unless there's been some weird instance of plastic surgery. And the old woman at the auction too. The blonde friend? The mom type woman? Okay, I see the rose left by the Phantom. Sexay. So I guess that just leaves Raoul as the old guy. Interesting. o.o I begin to understand why the movie is confusing to some people. I get the Phantom plot and all the stuff in the past, it's the auction part that confuses me.

Part of the confusion may be in that I was surfing h_e for the whole movie =3


Right. Aze's coming over tonight... and right now I should write the fic for the h_e fiction contest =o I think I've done all the necessary comment whoring, and I've done five Sorting apps this week, so I should be good for h_e and my loverly friends list.

Oh, I know! I should shower! XD Bleargh.

The auction bit is several decades into the future. The old guy is Raoul, and the memories the auction bring back form the story.

The blonde woman at the auction is Meg Girie, Christine's friend from earlier.

Yes, thank you for clearing it up. XD I figured it was in the future, but I was having issues figuring out with the old guy was Raoul or the Phantom. XD

I'm a dork and I've read the original book and some weird spinoff book(which was sadly better than the original, which was 1800's goth fiction) and I've seen the musical a bunch of times. So! I can answer your questions.

The old dude in the wheelchair was Raoul. He married Christine, but she's dead now and he's angsting about it and buying dusty old opera relics to relieve his angst.

The old woman at the auction was Mme. Giry, the adoptive mother type.

Yeah, Christine and Raoul get together as well they should. Because anyone who thinks hypnotizing, brain washing and attempting to control the woman you "love" is real love is just fucked up. So yeah. Christine+Raoul=OMG OTP!!!

Everyone else seems to have cleared up the misunderstandings, and I guess it can be a little confusing at first...glad to see someone watching it though. I try and force it upon a lot of people...if they aren't predisposed to hating musicals anyway :P

=3 I liked it pretty well, better than my post made it sound... I just wouldn't call it one of my favorites. Good luck with getting everyone to watch it ;P
